I think it is a very timely story. I was very disappointed that some "news" organizations played down the part of the female police officer. There was a time (in highschool, college and up to 45) when I could stand up against almost anyone my age and either win or come to a draw.
It is really a shame that the armed forces exclude women who in some instances can outperform men.
The GREAT story here is that a WOMAN took out a Jihaddist ! These Punks are not going to be greeted by a bunch of virgins when they have been beaten by a WOMAN !! Only In America ! This woman should be rated with Audie Murphy !( Liberals will have to Google this one ) Obama will have a REAL problem giving this HEROINE a medal for shooting a MUSLIM l. I'LL bet he won't. The Obama-Media will skewer her as a Redneck ! Wanna' Bet?
She is just one of many redneck Texas women who don' t take crap from yankees or a$$holes!!! It' s not surprising to me, I live here in central Texas (30 miles from Ft Hood) and I speak from experience. Someone give that man, ahh, woman a Beer!!!
Hmmm...this is a great piece! I remember when I was a police officer down in South Louisiana and I was asked to be a State Trooper. I was thrilled! That is until the Sgt. said that they had not met their quota of women....I turned down the job. It is a proven fact that women in general are better in combat situations then men are. Why won't they give us the same positions? I understand that many women are not equipped to handle the stress, but neither are many of the men! Pi$$ off Mama Bear and see who won't fight to protect her country and family!
My point above is that woman may not be equal in BODY strength to men (although I wonder about some of the men I have seen), but most of them more than excel in MENTAL strength. Hmmmm...maybe it is time to let women show their true fortitude!
She deserves so much for her bravery. She took a round in the leg and still gave that piece of s*** a good gunfight. Hero without a doubt.
I once dated a woman who was an Army veteran, she had been an MP.
We had so much fun going to my property in central Florida and training together.
I'd trust any woman veteran with my life in a combat situation,we stopped dating when she decided to return to the Army.
LOL @ the KOOKS above ^^ me. You guys have no clue, do you? What? Do you just spew empty rhetoric. Taking out a mad man is different from taking out mad MEN in a foreign country for months on end.
I trained with some purdy feisty females that would put most guys in the dirt. Most of them went on to work in the private sector as police officers, deputies, CSI's, PI's & one works as a bouty hunter.
My youngest daughter (5'1") made 3rd degree black belt in junior TaeKwon-Do and took 1st & 2nd in tournament against the boys. (USTF) Now she's working on her adult black.
Girls can kick some serious ass.
The military's concern with females in combat boils down to one thing.
Being captured by an enemy that inherently degrades their own women.
I personally don't have the slightest problem with it at all but that's the way they see it.
Great article...Sad way for this woman to prove that she could handle herself, but it goes to show that there are women in the miltary that COULD and WOULD be willing to be in the front lines, fighting right now if they could.
Sgt. Munley was in the right place at the right time and she did the right thing. I hope she has a swift and complete recovery.
Women belong in the Home, Married to a Man, and raising a family. Just look at what making them equal to men has brought ? The rudder has gone from the Ship called home. No one to guide the kids every day. Oh, I know there will be plenty who disagree. But how many are privvy to both sides of the coin. I was alive for the days when women remained in the home. My mother , an orphan since 5, worked all her life. We had less than most where the mother stayed home. And I raised 6 kids with the wife home. That's a woman's job, not in a ring with gloves on, or at Karate' school, or with a rifle in their arms. Those arms were made to hold babies and to nurture and guide a family. Many have fallen for the pulp put out by Socialist Communist agendas, like Russia. With all that Comrade garbage, and the women in those ridiculous Mao outfits How's the commercial go ? Don't listen to me, I'm only the 500 lb. Gorilla in the room.
I have a friend who is a Captain in the Army. She's not very big, but she's one of the most athletic gals I have ever known. Met her at a health club and was impressed with her athletic skills, especially swimming. Smart too. She's in charge of Patriot Missiles in Korea because of her above-average math skills. When she entered the Army she studied everything she could: learned how to parachute from perfectly good planes and to fly helicopters. We refer to her as a small package of dynamite! She could probably handle a 40# pack on her back better than I even though I'm 4" taller.
If women are dumb enough to join the military then let them go right up to the front lines! Ladies first, by all means! It really doesn't matter since Uncle Sam is going to take a tail whipping in Afghanistan just like he took in Korea, Cuba, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Iraq. Let these old gals take their licks while us 'substandard' guys chill back at home.
While I do acknowledge that there are some women that can outperform men, I still believe that combat should be for men. Let a lady be a lady. Thats just my humble opinion.
I don't want my daughters or grand daughters in combat should the draft return. Be careful for what you wish for!
I think there ought to be a mental and physical fitness exam for combat service, and whoever can pass it, can be a combat troop. The exam should be exactly the same for men and for women, with no reduction from our current standard. This will keep unfit men out of combat and will allow fit women to serve, if that's what they want to do. This is how most fire departments manage things. Yes, some women can bench their own body weight. Many men cannot.
