How in the world can they claim it is a cultural sign? The myth of Jesus came from the middle east. Its a religious symbol, hands down, and if you want an example of what happens when religion and politics go to bed with each other, just look at Iran.

GREAT NOW THE EU IS ACTING LIKE THE TYPICAL AMERICAN A-HOLE WHO GETS ALL OFFENDED IF YOU SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS INSTEAD OF HAPPY HOLIDAYS.....

The crucifix belongs anywhere anyone chooses to place it. If it offends the liberal non-believer then turn your head and look the other way.

Otherwise libturds, a laser will shoot out of the cross and burn a hole in that fat libturd head of yours.

So the "European court of human rights" is now dictating to supposedly "sovereign" countries what they can do in their own public schools.
This in itself is a relatively minor event but it also indicates why America should guard its own sovereignty and right to self-direction.
World Government, of which this "court of human rights" is a precursor, is a Bad Thing.

You always have to wonder about the people that put THIS MUCH effort in removing a religious symbol. If it doesnt have any meaning to you, why does it mean SO much to you to get it removed? evil lurks.

I don't understand. Someone help me out. Islamist fundamentalist and KNOWN terrorist sponsors can dictate how things are run in countries in the middle east such as how women dress, subjects taught in schools (albeit the occasional terrorist drills and tutorials on how to carry out a suicide mission "successfully"), and how criminals should be penalized (body parts cut off). However, a key part of Italy's history should be removed from public places because foreigners or the occasional atheist who sees signs like the crucifix is being "hypnotized" into being a Christian?

Creepy cult symbols like the crucifix should not be displayed in public schools, where kids have no choice but to be exposed to them.

Public schools are for everyone..not just cult believers. Schools are for learning and not being subjected to cult symbols...especially gruesome
ones of some dead guy on a cross!

Can't believe this particular cult has lasted so many years.

Religious symbol my ass, it was a Roman gallows, its just as absurd as the wearing of a French guillotine or hang mans gallows around your neck.

It is a sad and unfortunate day when the very soil of the foundations of Roman Catholic Christianity as well as a place of reflection for all Christians, has become so bothered by centuries of Christian presence and culture. It will not be long before the images of Christianity will be lost to the ever growing Muslim population with a cresent and moon and then to follow, true loss of many freedoms. Way to go Europe! You have become as ignorant, ridiculous and naive as your American cousins. Assine political correctness reigns supreme.

iItally is strongly Catholic country.I don't think they have the same ruls as we do.So those living there should move to a neighboring country that do separate church & state & visit their families & friends on vacation.Problem solved!

Note to planet Vatican, contrary to what you might believe , not everyone in the world believes in your vile cult. A cult that murdered millions in Latin America, and tortured and burned thousands in Europe.
" Yeah" and to think everyone is pissed off at Islam, " scumbags that they are" at least they didn't wipe out entire civilizations, Maya, Inca, Aztecs etc.

Although the crucifix is a mainly Catholic symbol, I don't see why this is a problem in European schools. You'd think they'd have learned a hard lesson from America about what happens when you take God out of schools. Look at today's youth. Many of them don't believe in ANYTHING, and therein lies the problem. If you don't approve of the crucifix hanging on the schoolroom wall, look in the other direction.

I'm with Proud, her point is perfect. If aliens landed here, they'd see a bunch of deranged people running around with a heinous ancient torture device hanging around their necks. And some would be REALLY cool, and have a dead body hanging off it!

And these xtians are the same freaks screaming about indoctrination of children...by Obama LMAO!

The Catholic Church Agenda: Good morning all...here's the list of topics for discussion today: Let's see. We have God only knows how many pedophiles running around, then we've got the whole abortion issue, the abstinence deal, we're running out of priests, we hate gays, we don't want women involved, and we're trying to retract our support of the Third Reich. Hold on a sec, table that garbage, here's a REAL issue: Let's put out a statement on where to hang crosses.
F*kn Brilliant!!

the reason for wanting to remove religius symbols from schools is that if they remove the cross they can remove the head-scarf `Muslim` and there is not a damn thing those women haters can do about it ,they already did in France and it worked very nice` .This is done to combat the `half moon and star` and their sick society . schools are for learning and not religiously brainwash LEAVE THE SYMBOLS AT HOME.

If religion is "man made" an it's symbols are irrelevant, then why do people run from those symbols like Dracula or better yet, like cockroaches from the light? It's obvious. God is talking to them through his spirit and they have no answer for him, so they try to remove any evidence that he exists. News flash moron...you can't destroy the universe. God put that there so you'd see his awesomeness. Now you might try to blow it up...starting with the moon. Later brain dead cockroach!

p.s. if we came from outer space or evolved frogs why should we be held to a higher standard as it pertains to how we treat those less fortunate than us? "I was born that way!" seems to work whenever you are doing something that EVERYONE KNOWS IS WRONG. So as it pertains to helping poor people to get health care...I don't care about them because "I AM JUST AN ANIMAL AND I WAS B O R N THAT WAY!"

THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH
1. Inquistion tortured and burned to death thousands in Europe.
2. f***** up the middle East.
3. Wiped out millions in central and south America.
4. Helped the Nazis escape the Neurenburg trials.
5. Handed Jews over to the Nazis.
5. Abused countless children.
6. Told impoverished and starving third world countries not to practice birth control.
Yeah great institution that Catholic Church!

The EU, oh boy, this one world logic is going to be fun.
If Italians can't display a crucifix (in a majority Catholic nation, home of the Pope) because the EU says so, then please tell everyone of Muslim faith (women) to take off the scarfs, tell the Jewish men to take off the hats, tell the French women to shave their underarms & legs, etc.
Why stop at the subject of crucifixes? Where does the authority of the EU end & the rights of people living in EU nations begin? Next will EU members be told not to wear crucifix necklace's? Take the crucifixes down from outside church's? Isn't there more important/pressing business the EU should be addressing? Like their messed up 1 world economy? Guess the Irish knew what they were doing when they voted NOT to join the EU. Can just imagine what would happen if they were told to take down crucifixes.
