Buffett's big bet: $34B on 2nd-largest railroad (AP)

The biggest name in investing is making what he calls an "all-in wager" on the U.S. economy -- $34 billion to own a railroad that hauls everything from corn to cars across the country. » Full Story on Yahoo! Finance

It seems the economy is going to go up very quick. Is time to buy low and sell very high.
Thanks, Mr. Buffet.

Boycott Obamunism...............

Buffet believes in US economy and GDP up, yet the losercrats say we have to rebuild the world and eliminate capitalism...who are the twits??

Only Michael Moore is ranting about eliminating capitalism. Obama wants to keep capitalism going, which is why so much money was used to try to bail out the banks that provide the capital that allows capitalism to keep chugging along. Here's something to comment on for all the anti-PBS people: BNSF (the railroad Bufffet is buying) is a major corporate sponsor of the News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Gasp!

the most brilliant idea i heard all day. wish i'd thought of it first and have 34 billion with the backing of funds to make it the no. 1 railroad. Hands down it'll save small business money as well as consumers on the inflated costs of everyday products. sweeeet

Who was the idiot that said "they haven't eaten corn in a long time and could go without this food item"----hahahahahahahaha. You idiot! Corn or a corn derivative is in EVERTHING, most processed foods have some type of corn derivative in them AND most farm animals are fed off of some type of corn grain!!!!!!!! Wow...that one comment showcased how stupid the average American has become about production and how foods are produced---like little dumb pigs we just eat whatevers in the trough, right??? Oink Oink.

Go Warren!!! If I had money I would invest and bet on us, too! Take that, hypocri-twits!
People, go on &live off the food stamp fat of the land, (or bitch about your yacht and your six extra cars having to be sold to buy groceries.) Dont blame me, I work. If we'd each buy just one $50 savings bond, it is better than the govt having to sell them abroad AND it would go farther than the sellouts want us to think, toward salvaging this country. Or just starve in your penthouses because the farmers are the true wealth of the country. And they WILL keep their guns no matter what the rest of you think. If you know history you know Im right. How else can we afford to bail out all the starving nations? They cant eat wall street 'ticker tape.'

Since 1974 when Baffoonn had his 1st and only profitable trade he hasn't had one single successful trade.

All he does is get fools..i.e. libtards to give them their money and then basically skims off 20%, plus annual fees.

This dufus doesn't know the difference between a stock and a stick. Complete moron.

Check it out. A monkey throwing darts did better investing.

Just another Bernie Jackoff but hasn't been caught yet.

Good man, Mr. Buffett; honor and country ALWAYS pays off, in more ways than simple mass return. Ultimately, energy beats all. Things may be a real, not nominal, 'MES' -- leave the last 'S' off for savings -- Market -- Economy -- Society: US = S. Few other nations on the face of the Earth, outside of our reliable allies, have an incrdble real line citizenry compnt with such dedictn and honor as to commit to and perform such incrdble srvce 1/2 way around the world; addtly, US citznry, partcly line compnt, is basically stable and law abidng (prev cycle 'bank') through thick and thin, with dedcatn and innvatn solution appl. The US, at this pt in the cycle of nomnl mkt micro-consmptn/trade expnsn bank text (rsble & OK 4 the times) evolution toward real ecnmy macro-prodn/innvtn corp context (see L & G Deprssn), surely has the best principal balance sheet of + principle in the world. Already, initial real sector mkt eq invstmt price apprctnn return is proving that pt.

He has made very few invsetmet mistaks in the past. There is hidden value in his current investment. We should have his investment skill and confidence in the USA.

I saw Buffett at Austin City Limits, in person, back in the '70s. Margaritaville is still one of my favorite songs. And, he's penned some nice novels!! Now that he owns a freakin' railroad, I'd like to see him pen an investment book.

We all know the economy will turn around in time; you don’t have to be Warren Buffet to figure that one out. Real people don’t have money to invest like that right now or should I say the working class doesn’t. How much bailout money went or is going to the RR?
The democraps also raised minimum wage and everything went up accordingly with it so no one actually benefited from it. Wow they got a pay raise that cost them even more to buy things they need than they gained in pay lol nice work Dem’s. Just wait for healthcare and there carbon tax get in, sure there helping the poor or at least they want them to think that. All the wile the poor will simply get poorer and Obama and the rest of the democraps will be thanked for making them poorer lol go figure…

This is awesome news for the environment and for the country. Railways were once the backbone of what made the USA wealthy (and also the British empire for that matter). Can't believe all the jealous haters on here. Buffett is investing in something that will create wealth, rather than just moving it around - and that makes him a hero IMO.

Here is an extremely interesting article from Feb. 7, 2009.
It's kinda spooky because it lays out exactly what has already happened, and what is continuing to happen right now under our noses.
Yahoo won't let me put it up because it was already buzzed up 9 months ago......crystal ball or reality?

Makes no difference it will still go broke soon because nobody is buying any goods and therefore the railroads will come to a halt like everything else. Buffet will just have to go play with his chew chew trains by himself.
