And people say mankind can't have any effect on mother nature. Ha! To think man is such an insignificant force on planet Earth is to continually ignore the developments around us. Open your eyes people.
To anyone who's played Red Alert 2 back in the day: the Chinese now have 2 of the 3 superweapons in that game (Soviet nukes and the American weather machine). Now it only needs Yuri's mind control devices, and I don't think it'll be very long before they develop that too (although with how much money the US owes them, I don't think that's needed anyway).
They should just leave mother nature alone and let it do what it does, For millions of years she has been dealing with pollution (yes, it can be mostly natural) and she has always done a good job fixing it.
Chris, I haven't heard that man is such an insignificant force on earth, but just not enough to change the direction the earth is going. Someday everything will be gone and it will take a force much more greater than man to do it.
To give you an idea how big the planet earth is, take a normal size globe an put your pen point on the center of a city like Chicago and imagine that there is over a million people under that point, and compare the size of that point to the size of Earth.
As far as what man can do .... he has the potential to do almost anything, but to let him do almost anything is not a good idea.
Chris,
As a chinese, I still could not agree with you. I do not think to make such a big snowfall is a right way to solve the water-lack problem of north China. That was a huge project and we still donot know the exact side effect it will bring to us along with short time water adding. The key and fundamental method is to control the desert spreading, water and soil erosion of rivers.
It looks like we use a Atom to attack terrorists in our own country.
