Gay marriage foes win with message about schools (AP)

AP - Gay marriage opponents pulled off another victory at the ballot box this week by using a tried-and-tested argument: Approve it and children will be taught homosexuality in school. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

Of course, what they do not tell you is that the claim is False. But how could they? After all, that would mean admitting they are liars.

I've been married to the same wonderful man for 38 years. We have one son and he is married to a very nice woman and has 4 teenage girls. Same-sex marriage just isn't for us. However, we all agree that these "hate mongers" and bigots should not have the right to interfere with other people's lives. If there were truly separation of church and state, they couldn't keep quoting their bible when they say this is wrong. These so-called conservatives are ruining this country and what it is supposed to stand for - - - INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS!!! It seems funny that they don't hold back when someone wants to take away their guns, though.

And before you start flaming me on it, here is the evidence:

We understand that schools will not be mandated to provide one curriculum or another...

… We have never said that schools will be mandated — or, actually, perhaps we did in one ad, or certainly led people to believe that, inadvertently. Marc Mutty of Stand for Marriage Maine

It's an effective tactic because the claims are true. The examples are actual instances that occured in states that recognize 'gay marriage,' such as Massachusetts and California, for the brief period that it recognized such unions. It's a true statement to say that many schools will teach about gay marriage under the protection of such a law because it clearly has happened, and would continue to happen in the future. Congratulations to the people of Maine for yet another victory in battle against the culture of death.

It's just more scare tactics, because they are so frightened of two girls kissing they lose thier minds. What's unfortunate is that 54% people in Maine fell for it. My cousin is gay. We've known since he was a toddler. We used to play dress up together. There are gay kids in nearly every classroom in america. Now the people of Maine have told those kids there is something wrong with them. Unfortunatly, they have heard it before and will hear it again.

You as tired as I am about the religious fanatics trying to take us back to the dark ages?? Refuting science, trying to control other peoples personal lives, etc??

They would love this country to be a theocracy... more like the middle eastern countries. We need to pull tax exemptions from those that are determined to steal our civil liberties.

Paul,
How is gay marriage an advancement in civilization and to be against it a return to the dark ages? The Dark Ages was the most evil and anti-religious time in our History. Gay marriage is anti-religous and anti-God.
Therefore gay marraige is actually taking us back into the Dark Ages.
Where there was NO morailty, so men and men can continue to put thier penises in each others anuses and women and women can continue to lick each others vaginas. Very advanced !!!! Not at all the Dark Ages huh? That's what spiritual advancement is? Pathetic argument you have.

OK, Ill get the negative 95% on this, but I will explain it from a conservative (my conservative, NOT ALL conservatives) stand point. Law does not allow me to say Merry Christmas, talk about God and religion at work. I do not get any religious holidays off as a Christian unlike most others. The only thing standing from my beliefs is my belief in one man one woman marriage. I have NO, REPEAT, NO problem with civil unions. I'm all for same right, privileges etc. etc., just dont call it marriage. Marriage was founded on religious beliefs, therefore if several religions define marriage as 1 man, 1 woman, then so be it. I have had several gay and lesbian friends in high school and in the workplace, and I dont care what they do, just dont call it marriage. (I will now put on my helmet and flak jacket)

Whether in Maine or California its the packaging of this measure that's the problem for its proponents. Get a new name for it and watch the problems go away. Call it espousement or civil commitment or something else. Just give up the marriage word because that's what upsets people even if they are extremely liberal in all other areas.

What it comes down to is we live in the USA. We have rights and freedoms here. Unless your Gay....then you're a second class citizen at best. People need to shut up and let others live their lives.

Sheesh. Talk about one sided. These so-called journalists actually prove the point about undesirable influences. They themselves are trying to influence the minds of our children to get an outcome they desire.

But here's the issue in a nutshell: We don't care what homosexuals do in their bedroom, but we also don't want to be TOLD (by the state or anyone else) that such a lifestyle is normal or even acceptable. It isn't and we don't want our children exposed to it. Ever.

That aside, why all this fuss over the sexual proclivities of 1% of the population? Homosexuals are STATISTICALLY INSIGNIFICANT. That they keep pushing their issues into the public domain, into mainstream discourse, in a relentless effort to seek special treatment is just ridiculous. Enough already!

Here's proof that they are after our children.....

"California is considering a change to the way it teaches history......the Democratic-controlled state Senate approved a bill that would require social science textbooks to note the contributions homosexuals have made to history.....The law is sponsored by one of six openly gay members of the California legislature.....The bill would add the contributions of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender......The politicians have forced sexual indoctrination upon kids as young as kindergarten,"

Furthermore. If you are of the Jewish or Christian faith it is my belief that if a parent raises a child to believe in the values the scriptures set forth, what they are taught in school will be considered fantasy by your children. Oh yea the one big catch is; as a parent we "must" live to the best of our abilities the same standards we teach our children to be the righteous way. If we really believe in our one true God he makes us this promise "if we raise our children in the way of God, when they stray they will return to him". Its up to the parent folks! Finally, Yes I am opposed to teaching homosexuality is normal or "OK" at any venue and especially school. But this is a sinful world and it will get worse. God also tells us that.

Damn the truth Hurts. Yep I'm "Phobic" that this will happen. The more you tell stupid people that stupid things are "normal" the more stupid people think about it and then try it and then do it! I gurantee you 80% or more of these people do NOT have their genes out of balance. It's hey - "I have no basis for anything in my life, I think I'll try this". Why don't you just take a swan dive off a bridge, instead? No don't do that, because then all the rest of you would want to do it too.

I can turn my TV off, I can turn my radio off, I don't go to a "church" that embrace gay life, and I don't want my tax dollars in public school teaching this sicness as normal or right.Keep your sex in your own home, I don't want to know about it. WHY is your sex life GOT to be in front of everyone? There is more to life then sex, so why is this part of your life my business. Why do YOU force it to be?

Nothing will be accomplished as long as the gay strategy revolves around "changing hearts and minds."

The overwhelming majority of people who oppose gay marriage do so on religious grounds, which means they have neither a heart nor a mind.

Effective strategy and true. Do what you want in your own home. Don't push it on the public and don't expect rights beyond that.

The "Michael" poster is one of those hateful gays who would intentionally infect people with AIDS so that he knows that others suffer as much as he does.

He DEMANDS that normal people toss their own beliefs to the curb and embrace sickness as an enlightened, "evolved" state of being. Only what "Michael" wants is of any value. Any opposition to his wants and "Michael" runs to yahoo and flags the opposing opinions. Let's see how long it takes him today.

If anyone shouldn't be allowed to marry or spread their views to children, it's the scumbag bigots who spread intolerance and hate. If they don't want to marry someone of the same sex, then don't. But don't try to force your bigoted views on others who do. Next they'll be looking to prevent people of a different race, religion, handicap, socio-economic status, etc. from marrying. Bigots will always find someone to find to hate. It's just a part of who they are. They're the ones that need to be treated as 2nd class citizens, not homosexuals.

I miss the Ward and June Cleaver days!!! Anyone over 50 has to agree that our world saw fit to throw out morality and values. Why can't sex, whether between heterosexuals or gays, just be kept behind their bedroom doors. Why does Disney World have "Gay Pride Parades", when its supposed to be a family theme park. Doesn't it merit itself as a theme park anymore? Isn't society pushing the envelope too far? What next? A Disney movie for kids called "Donald and Mickey Come Out of the Closet"? And so they banned cigarette commercials! Big deal! Kids nowadays should be taught social skills, morals, ethics, how to say the Pledge correctly, know the preamble to the Constitution, history, geography and how to be polite. Sex education has not stopped kids from getting STD's, getting pregnant (the major age now is 12!!!) or HIV. What's going on in this world?

I really don't care about the "Gay Marriage" part particularly but I do care about the Churches getting into the politics of it. Every "Tax Exempt Church" or Organization should lose their tax exemption if they spent money on the campaign or financed ad's or people to work against the law etc., they should have their exemption removed. They are perfectly entitled to spend their money any way they feel like spending it. They are just not "Entitled" to the tax exemption when they spend it on politics. Go after their money.

They are some annoying roaches. I am tired of seeing all of these articles on homosexuality. Go away! Men and women both have equals rights already. You can marry who ever you want! As long as they are of the opposite, like nature intended.

Keep up the bigoted attacks on religion, Mikey, that will just ensure that your cause will always lose popular votes on gay marriage. Since most people are religious, Newton's third law applies.
