It is likely Madeline is dead and her body will never be found. This very sad story has too many unanswered questions and most of them involve the parents' behavior before and after her disappearance.
We may be surprised and this little girl will be found alive. I hope it works out that way. On another note, who leaves their two year old twins and their 3 year old asleep in an unlocked room while they eat at a restaurant? People go on and on about how "helicopter parenting" is ruining our kids when being paranoid about our kids prevents this from happening. 2 and 3 is way too young to be left alone anywhere even if they are asleep.
Let me get this straight.....she was left in the apartment in a strange country while her parents went out with friends? Was she left with a nanny or an adult? Based on what i just read, it seems like an almost 4 year old girl was left alone while her parents went to have fun with friends 'nearby'. What do you call 'nearby'? No child that age should have been left alone. My parents never allowed me to stay home by myself until i was 11 years old. I don't think she is dead though. I think that some desperate person wanted a child and took her. Another thing...were the parents charged with neglect? I feel sorry for them that they lost their daughter but it was a result of their neglect (based on the information given in this article). NO ONE SHOULD LEAVE A CHILD UNATTENDED AND WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION.
Let the girl rest in peace. It's been two years and they're bringing this up to cause pain to her family members.
This story is absolutely heartbreaking... I pray Maddie will be found. Anyone who has briefly lost a child or had a child go missing knows the horrific feelings of sorrow and intense fear, regardless of the situation. It is absolutely disgusting that human trafficking is so quietly prevalent, and that the major governments of the world keep it alive. I will continue to remember this innocent little girl in my prayers.
Wow! This story is very sad to me. How could any parents leave children at that age alone?!!? I feel sorry for the parents of course cause I would go crazy if I lost a child, but its their fault. The were not be responsible parents. I really hope this little girl is okay! I hope that she is found alive and able to live a wonderful life and that her parents have realized what a horrible incident they have caused. Good luck on the search for this little girl!!
This is very sad and I hope this girl is found alive. That being said as a mother why would you ever leave your 3 year old alone? Our oldest is 11, but our youngest is a little over 1 and even when she takes a nap if I go out in the backyard I lock up the front door leave one of the dogs (they goes crazy if anyone comes up to the house) inside and take the monitor out with me, but that's as far as I go. You can never ever be to safe with 'little' children.
Whats really outragious is the fact that no charges have ever been brought against the parents for reckless abandonment.
To think that two doctors, so called pillars of the community would leave their kids so that they could selfishly go and party with friends just beggars belief.
In these holiday communities there are always babysitters available.

Everyone should know that the parents know her whereabouts! It is so obvious, white people are known to do such a thing!
I'm hoping Madeleine will be found someday. My theory of her whereabouts is that she probably has Stockholm Syndrome, or having a very close attachment to her captor as if he/she were her parent. It may not be easy to find the lost little girl, but with age progression and change in hair and skin color perhaps her adoption in a warm Mediterranean climate, police or the public might recognize her. Whatever the case, I hope Maddy is alive.
I really believe the parents (doctors) gave her medicine to sleep and the child died and the parents freak and got rid of the body and now are claiming the child was kidnapped. Maddie is gone and her parents have to live with that the rest of their lives.
that image is ridiculous. she wouldnt have dark hair being in a sunny climate it would be lighter and she would look bi-racial, even the lighter version is not the face for a 6 y.o. --the parents never seemed to be griving in my opion, mabey they sold her, so they left the window open and left the room.

If they were taking a child to raise or sell they would have taken the younger ones, not the 3 year old. The younger ones would have been less of a problem to deal with and would forget their parents faster. Also people want younger children to adopt. I think this was the work of a sicko. I am surprised there were no security cams. Seems like everywhere else has them.
Madeline was killed in a fit of rage by one or both of her parents.i have no doubt and the system has failed her. rest in peace sweet angel..
I think that while the parents were gone she woke up and wondered outside getting lost and someone found her and kept her...some desperate person for a child. none the less, i really hope they find her.
Since no one has come forward and nothing that the law enforcement agencies nor Interpol has led to her return to her family, only GOD
knows what is and has happened to Madelein McCann. I have to believe that her parents had nothing to do with this, except for their lack of vision and stupidity. I am more then sure that they have been living in their own self-induced pain amplifier. If it turns out that they
were accomplices in this shocking turn of events, then GOD will deal
with them and show them no mercy. HELL will await them. Therefore I believe that it is prudent to reserve judgement into the more then capable hands of GOD THE FATHER ALMIGHTY. I also believe that a big enough reward has not yet been offered for Madelein's safe return
or the return of her precious body for Holy Sacrements, proper burial,
and closure for her family.
Only God knows what happened to this kid. I still think the twins should be removed from their custody and they should have lie detector tests. That one girl was found 18 yers after going missing. Elizabeth Smart was found 9 months alive after going missing. That kid who went missing at 7 years old for 14 years was found alive. So it is possible that she is still alive somewhere. Those parents should be charged with neglect at any rate for leaving their kids alone in a forgien country. Wouldn't surprise me if a desperate woman who can't have kids kidnapped her since some women will kill to have a baby :-( Hopefully she isn't dead. If she is found alive I don't think she should be reunited with her parents. If they are going to leave her alone with her two younger siblings that is stupid and neglectful.
