As of 10:30 PM ET the Democrat Owens is in the lead with over 50% of the vote. The republican Scozzafava still got about 5% of the votes casted, even though she quit the race. A year ago, Republican John McHugh won the district with 65%. Well done, Sarah Palin! Thank you very much and keep up the good work getting Democrats elected.

Hoffman losing is the best thing for the Republican Party. Hardcore conservatives think that if Obama screws up, everyone is going to start opposing gay marriage, supporting endless and pointless foreign wars, and denying women choice. That's not gonna happen. If someone in the Republican Party wants to talk about limiting government and spending responsibly, I'll listen. If the party remains too busy waving bibles and shotguns to try to strengthen the economy and our dollar by reducing deficits, I'm not interested anymore.

In my opinion, this was a very important race. The neo-cons were rejected. Maybe this will make some extremists realize that they are bad for the country.
