Tapes show Kennedy was conflicted over Saigon coup (AP)

AP - Newly released White House tapes from the Vietnam War era portray President John F. Kennedy wrestling over the fate of South Vietnam's strongman in a situation that appears to mirror President Barack Obama's quandary today in dealing with Afghanistan's shaky government. » Full Story on Yahoo! News

Well; Thats interesting to know after 55,000 USA warriors are gone...Know we have started our own "coup's" one in IRAQ and the other in Afghanistan and one on the plate in Pakistan..Get out of the World Government mentality and return the USA to the Republic that it was meant to be. Is it too late????? Is the Constitution so ragged by Democracy that we can not return it to it's pristine condition??? Have we reached the state of Oligarchy???

The same old bogus argument that the people we support must reform and be even more pure than we ever have been. We had no problem with supporting Stalin against Hitler without demanding that Joe reform before we sent him aid.

First Kennedy, then more importantly, LBJ after Kennedy's death, looked at Vietnam as a Cold War test. Wrongly.

Kennedy got involved because of his Kruschev concerns, LBJ escalated because he didn't want to branded a dove going into the '64 election. And 55,000 died because of it - those Libtards are really lacking in common sense.

Because anyone with common sense would state we are not getting involved there because the gov. in So. Vietnam is corrupt and lacks the support of its peoples. So we can't help them until and unless the So. Vietnamese decide they want to stand up and fight. They never did to the scale required because they hated their gov.

The only similarity is that they are all incompetent, inept democrats. From JFK, to LBJ and now Hussein Obama they could not make a decision nor could they finish anything.

And that may have been another reason for his demise. An administration conspiracy,?, which is still a thought kept in the dark.
Kennedy didn't like it over there, but every one else sure did and kept it going. Lousy replacements should it happen (oh, heaven forbid...lol) again all down the food chain with hungry mouths, (Biden, Pelosi, et al, etc, etc) biting at every breath.
Now this couldn't happen to the "peace maker" could it... for me, one could only hope.
Not many like it were we are now either, Everything has been a lie about the WHY. Rubble and ash fall, smoke rises. Seek out videos of the towers, smoke is at the bottom (ground level and below), rising upward.

This is so ridiculous it is sad. How does it reflect Obamas current situation in view of the "mounting casualties".?? We lost 58,000 boys in Vietnam, and while even one death is too many, we have lost around 1,000 in Afghanistan. I'm just saying that this reporter is making a huge leap to make a comparison from one to the other....... These people will do anything to make our big mistake (Obama) look presidential. His indecision right now is costing our boys lives over there. Where's the surge????

First, if I cut my grass and you cut your grass. We can sit around all day and talk about our adventures. I might have not weed eated. Maybe you did not trim the hedges. Bottom line is no two minutes in time are alike. You cannot be someone else, even if you try to act the part. We have a good man in office so lets support him and help him. Nothing is ever gained by comparing apples or oranges. Lets be American and push forward.

Sorry Bobby, sounds good on paper but Obama is pushing into a Socialistic Society with the government in control....... the only difference between B.O. and Hugo Chavez is that B.O. is subtle. We can't support him.

Interesting that the Diem coup was november 5th 1963, Kennedy assassinated 17 days later. Escalation of Viet Nam War begins the last week of November 1963. NBAJustice fails to realize that at the time of the Diem coup Kennedy had 17 days left and casualties in Viet Nam were fewer than 1,000. Thus the comparison to today's Afghan War. So far as today is concerned the American public needs closure. Capturing Osama Bin Laden would provide that.

Why does the author of this article associate Kennedy and Obama for this article? I'll tell you why. Journalist Barry Schweid, an antiwar liberal with an agenda, listens to the newly released WH tapes and instantly sees an opportunity to link Vietnam to Afghanistan in an effort to sway the American public against the troop buildup. What ever happened to objective journalism? Give me a break.

TALK ABOUT GRASPING FOR STRAWS -- THIS SOCIALIST ADMINISTRATION IS A DISGRACE -- PRIORITIES MORE FOCUSED ON ACORN AND SEIU ILK THAN ON OUR OWN SOLDIERS --OUR NATIONAL SECURITY --- WE ARE MOVING IN A DIRECTION THAT WILL HAVE A DETRIMENTAL EFFECT ON EVERY WHITE, BROWN, BLACK, AND ASIAN LIVING IN THE USA. VOTE EVERYONE OF THEM OUT OF OFFICE AND THAT GOES FOR REPUBLICANS WHO ACT LIKE LIBERAL IDIOTS.

Sounds like the lesson is: support Karzai, and don't greenlight a military coup to overthrow him.

Amazing that Obama compares his lack of leadership to anything that JFK did. This JFK library information just happened to be released in a vain attempt to support Obama's lack of decision. How low can he go... unfortunately we haven't seen the bottom of this administration yet. Forcing the release of this information is low as an ant crawling under a cucumber.
