New Mexico suspends hair-pulling soccer player (AP)

A New Mexico soccer player has become an Internet celebrity for the wrong reasons. Junior defender Elizabeth Lambert was suspended Friday for her infractions the day before during a 1-0 loss to BYU in a Mountain West Conference semifinal. Lambert is seen in video from the game throwing elbows, colliding with several players and then yanking the ponytail of a BYU player who went crashing to the... » Full Story on Yahoo! Sports

One bad ass chick...wonder how she would have acted if they lost?
She is clearly one of those people who "hits first and asks questions later:" You never want to meet one of those in a bar. If she joins the Army and gets access to a gun.....

I'm Glad she got suspended. But i would suspend the refs also. For not having control of the game. Then you question the coaching staff. There is no need for these actions in any sport. Especially womens soccer.

In the video I saw, in each instance a BYU player was the instigator and Lambert returned the favor. One shot shows a BYU the elbowing Lambert  in the gut and the other a BYU player is pulling on Lamberts jersey. In my opinion both of the BYU players need to be suspended also for their action. Funny how the referee didn't see the other half of the incidents. I would have thrown a punch too if someone elbowed me in the gut.

I was shocked to see the highlights of the actions of this individual, who clearly is not a lady. I doubt that this was the first time she's done this. The school, plus the officials at this game should be embarrassed for allowing these actions to continue and are equally at fault. This individual has a future judgement day coming and I hope it's painful enough that she'll learn a well deserved lesson. She's lucky that none of these girls were my daughter.

You have to realize, the BYU players are LDS/Mormons,and they can do no wrong,I know I live in Salt Lake City.

I saw the incident on the local news tonight, not once did the news show the BYU team instigating the incidents mentioned, the local news station really edited the coverage.

I think they should do nothing to her, they do not do anything to black players in football when they put fingers in other players eyes and such.

After the game Ms. Lambert was asked if she would like to join Sarah Palin for the run for office in 2012. She said even though Sarah a ROGUE players herself and very cute, she was a quiter as well.I hate quiters! Ms. Lambert thought her chances for the office would be a waste of her time and she is now scheduled to fight Matt Hughes in the UFC 132 event to be held in Las Vegas election night of 2012. I would think if she aggrees that she, Ms. Lambert will have better tv rating and a chance of winning then Palin.

She should be kicked off the team permanently. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior. She should not be allowed to play another game of college soccer. If the Mountain West conf does nothing beyond the "suspension" by the school, they are a bunch of horses asses. The season is basically over so the schools current suspension means nothing. It's time some of you jerks start taking responsibilillity for your actions and stop thinking that a lame appology solves everything. This was not a single incident, this was an entire game of unacceptable behavion and the officiating crew and the coach should be seriously reprimanded if no suspended. Where the hell was her coach--she obviously condoned this behavior until it got national attention.

The referee staff should all be suspended also. Each and every one of the infractions by this hack was as offense punishable by being sent off. The flagrant tackle from behind is automatic red card. Throwing a punch is automatic red card. I was a level 3 referee for 12 years and have never seen that type of play from anyone. They would not have lasted past the first foul in my game. And even if the center didn't see it the assistant referees should have. This wasn't a one time deal for this player, it doesn't come on all of a sudden. It's my guess that she is like that most of the time, but this time the spotlight was on.

Another example of what sports has become. At least she got suspended unlike the Florida football player. If refs and coaches don't stop this kind of sportsmanship, this will continue, until someone seriously gets hurt. Hair pulling, punching in the back seem harmless until it escalates into trying to gouge someones eye out. This wasn't the first time this soccer player OR football player has played dirty...you are either a dirty player or you're not...come on coaches....refs....get in the &*!@! game.

Word to the wise: never do it in front of a TV camera. If you do, the management absolutely will do something about it.

I agree that she should be suspended, but often it is horrible game control by the referees that lead to this. How does a referee and two linesmen miss all of this. Especially, that which occurs on the ball.

Pull that crew's license to officiate.

I have suffered too often from the effects of poor officiating as a player and coach, but official's organizations protect their brethren and blame it on the players.

They say that justice is blind, but that does not mean the referees should be also.

Lambert's suspension is not enough.

She committed a criminal act. She belongs in prison. The victim should file a criminal suit, then follow it with a civil lawsuit. She should be kick out of the University for life!

You might explain away and be excused for a single act of violence in a sport - but the look on her face and the many times she deliberately inflicted violence (and not always as a reaction, either) on multiple players horrifies me. Wonder what all she got away with when there wasn't someone taping her, . . .

Is New Mexico soccer player ELIZABETH LAMBERT a bastard child of former boxer MIKE TYSON?
