I don't drink coffee, I don't drink soda, and I don't drink bottled water. That makes this list a paltry 2 items. Big flaming deal. Wow. I should just piss my pants for being so excited.

these are basic common sense, but thanks for the cost facts. just wish you had stated a city or area; most are way above the way i was raised and how i raised my kids. (enviroment affects up bringing - kind of like history repeats itself.)

I brew my own coffee with home filtered water and regularly use a slow cooker to make meals. Homemade bread is a nice compliment to a nice home cooked meal too. Great advice.

Where are you from that two 12 packs of soda cost $20??The most expensive brand is still less than $6 at the local gourmet store!

I have a slow cooker and it's great! Did you know you can even cook spaghetti sauce in that thing? Next on my list is a bread machine. I'm tired of having to go to the day-old bakery and pick through what they have, and even THEY have become over-priced! Yep, I'm going to make my own whole grain honey wheat bread right here at home! May all follow my lead and let the bread companies crash and burn!

Love my slow cooker. I use it to make carnitas... as well as many other foods. as for the bread machine.. whimp. I make bread by hand. Got tired of looking at the packages and seeing more ingredients on the list that should be. It's not hard and I make several loaves at a time then freeze the ones that I don't eat right away... and ta da one day of baking gets me a month of home made bread. :) (rhy and honey wheat are my favorites)

Geez, I thought I was the only one who was gonna comment on the claims that a 12 pack of soda costs $10.00!!!! Or that you can save $116.00 dollars a month by drinking tap water!!! The first three were accurate from my experience. But, unless you live in Russia, the last two are a complete joke and actually take away from the credibility of this article. Do us all a favor and stop with the filler!! You could have easily left the water and soda comparisons out or kept it real and stated we could save less a month by using the the tap or a soda machine.
This article went from being informative to sensationalism in a matter of seconds. Which is the problem with your industry in general..
Clean your act up!!

A rice cooker is also a good investment. You can cook a lot of things in a rice cooker,- many grains and vegetables. Experiment and Enjoy!

I agree about the slow-cooker....BUT....NOT the bread machine. Just buying the ingredients needed, costs more than a loaf of good bread, ON SALE !

I am sure the coke price must be a type "O" . But all the rest of your article gives good advice and I love the aroma of a home cooked meal and fresh baked bread coming from my kitchen. Makes any meal taste better!
